Inspired by the rich heritages of Celtic, Appalachian, Folk and Maritime traditions,
Coyote Run’s unique and rich storytelling style is a high octane blend of fine literature, and alternative rock in a kilt. Coyote Run plays a broad mix of instruments, including: guitars, bagpipes, mandolin, accordion, drum set, electric bass, flute, whistles, bodhran, djembe, digeridoo, dulcimer and more. Coyote Run plays in major Celtic festivals, clubs, pubs and concert halls throughout the United States. They have toured Ireland and Scotland and regularly perform throughout the United States.
In 2005, Coyote Run released two new albums that have both received critical acclaim: Tend the Fire, their Christmas album that is at once quirky and powerful, sacred and hilarious; and their fifth CD, Coyote Run Pleads the Fifth. New, original songs and lyrics from the pen of lead singer (and former professor) David Doersch mingle with traditional tunes given a decidedly mischievous twist. Gene Shaye of Philadelphia’s WXPN commented after hearing Pleads the Fifth that it represented the “Take no prisoners approach to Celtic music.” This album is not to be missed!
Art Ketchum of the ‘zine Celtic Beat, writes that “Listening to Coyote Run makes me think of a large, fascinating library, where every book you open gives you a view of something fascinating.” Coyote Run is currently performing music from their live album to be released in summer of 2007. The music from this album takes a step further down the literate road that Ketchum referenced in his review. In this album, Doersch’s lyrics will live side by side with William Blake, William Shakespeare, Robert Louis Stevenson and more.
Their CDs, Coyote Run Pleads the Fifth, Tend the Fire, Coyote Run, Full Throttle Celtic, and Don’t Hold Back are currently available through their website (www.coyoterun.com) and through a variety of internet retailers including amazon.com, the iTunes music store, and barnesandnoble.com.
